Clients that display any of these problems may be very defensive or uncomfortable discussing these issues with a therapist.

However, once a client understands that they will not be judged negatively by the therapist, they are more likely to share important information.

They are no longer interacting as a client and therapist, but are relating to each other as two human beings trying to connect.

Once this occurs, a client is more likely to relax and be more open towards the therapist’s questioning.

This is because a client is made aware that they are not alone to face their problems, but now they have the strength of another person to guide them through their journey.

The last technique that is really great with client-centered therapy is the use of active listening.

By doing this, a client begins to feel that their thoughts and ideas are understood by the therapist.

On the flip side of the coin, the therapist can make sure that they understand what the client is trying to say.

In the last part of the paper I go into greater detail in describing what I like best about this therapy.

The first thing a therapist should concern themselves with is building a relationship with a client.
